Dakota Over Dorset
The Dorset Coastline not only presents a fascinating kaleidoscope of colour but is of great interest both from a historical and geological point of view. From the air, aboard the Air Atlantique Dakota, by land and on sea, this film transports you from the very edge of Dorset, beginning with the Needles on the Isle of Wight, past Bournemouth and Swanage. Along the Purbeck Coast, exploring cliffs, coves and fossils. Passing the well-known landmarks of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.
Discussing war-time activities and days of smuggling. Continuing West to Weymouth, circum-navigating Portland, crossing Chesil Bank before heading West by foot to Abbotsbury, and the Dorset coastal villages and finally by sea to the ancient town of Lyme Regis on the Dorset / Devon border.
So fasten your safety belts aboard G-AMPZ and thrill to the ride as we depart from Hurn Airport. On our return flight to Hurn, we pass over the several RAF fighter stations, including Warmwell before turning to base over Stoney Cross airfield, where this very aircraft was based for a time during World War II.
