Welcome to New Milton's past in Print and Vision
This section of the website is designed to give you a chance to own books on our local history, spare old local postcards from my collection, local DVDs by the well known cameraman Patrick Kempe, and any other local items that are surplus to requirements!
The aim is not to make a profit ("just as well" I hear you say!) but to contribute to the running costs of a website such as 'New Milton - an Online Record'.
New Milton (Images of England), written and signed by local authors, Malcolm Bailey and Catherine M Lake, is a fascinating pictorial record of the 20th Century in the town and surrounding villages. The book contains over 200 photographs, each with its own story, dating back to the beginning of the 1900s when 'New' Milton was a fledgling town springing up around the railway station.
Many local businesses, some of which are still in existence, are illustrated with their own stories of survival through good times and bad and the surrounding villages of Old Milton, Ashley, Barton-on-Sea, Bashley, Wootton, Tiptoe, Hordle and Downton are not forgotten.

In case you reached this website from a search engine, 'New Milton - an Online Record' is my main website, where you can find well over 100 old photographs with recent views for a direct comparison. The website is a big hit with ex-Miltonians who live in other parts of the UK, and with ex-pats living as far afield as the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
In addition to old local photographs, 'New Milton - an Online Record' also has a 'Changes' section where local landmark buildings are recorded for posterity before being demolished, local video, links to maps of the area, a Guestbook, and a Links page.
The website covers the local history of the areas of New Milton, Ashley, Barton-on-Sea, Bashley, Wootton, Hordle, Everton, Downton and Walkford, although it doesn't, as yet, cover Lymington, Pennington, Sway or Highcliffe.
